Arrival in Guatemala City and Antigua

We arrived on time at the Guatemala City airport. It was as clean an modern as any international airport we have been to.

Antigua is a very nice town. Considering it is a touristy UNESCO site we found the
town to have a very comfortable vibe to it.
Our hotel Pasada La Merced was very close to "La Merced" church (pictured here). La Posada Merced was recommend to us by our friend Jean Nacamura. We found all of her recommendations to be "spot on" for us. Besides being a friendly hostel type hotel, the owner of La Merced helps many local charities and helps raise funds for and help distribute water filter to supply families with clean drinking water.
These are the ruins remaining in one section of La Merced after one of the earthquakes.
